del.icio.us bloggers
Judging by the fact that only nine people out of thousands of readers have saved my blog in del.ico.us, I thought I would introduce you to a free tool that I use almost everyday. The first time I visited del.icio.us, I thought it was stupid. I didn't see the value in saving bookmarks of my valued web sites online. What's wrong with my browser? But as tech-heads of greater nerdiness than myself continued praise the site, I decided to take a closer look.
I assume you understand what a bookmark is, and that Del.icio.us lets you do it online instead. But after digging deeper, there's a lot more to it.
First off, you can "Tag" your bookmarks. Tagging let's you assign key words that label the link you are saving. You can use more than one tag as well. Lets say some of your links are for work, and some are for fun, and some are both. You decide what the tags are called, and which bookmarks get which tags. Later, if your looking for funny links, you just click on the "funny" tag
Next, you can share your bookmarks. Sharing allows you to access your own bookmarks from any web enabled computer (like your home, office, and Kinkos). It allows your family or friends to see your links, and you can use it for work-mates as well. Plus, the best part is that you can share with strangers. You see, every time you publicly bookmark a web page, del.ico.us gives you a list of everybody else that has linked to it as well. Since you and these other people agree that a particular page is of value, it's great to check out what else these people are linking to. When you see that many, many other people are saving a particular link, it gives you a pretty good idea that it's a page worth visiting, as lot's of people found value in it.
More recently, I've also learned that you can take sharing to an even higher level by networking. When you find another del.icio.us user with similar tastes, you can add them to your network. This makes it easy to check out what links those users have added recently. Here's a list of fellow real estate and mortgage bloggers that are in my network.
Dustin Luther - Rain City Guide - tyr
Richard Natch - Real Blogging - rnatch
Mathew Bowe - LOTECH - mjbowe
Alex Stenback - Behind The Mortgage - behindthemortgage
Jim Cummons - Technology for Real Estate - realtytech
Jim Duncan - Real Central VA - realcentralva
Here's mine - lenderama
What is yours?
del.ico.us also has some really cool tools to publish these links on your own web pages. The lenderama Big List, and Bookmarks tools rely heavily on these del.icio.us tools. Did I mention it was free? I do like free.

I've been enjoying the networking feature of del.icio.us as well. and have been thinking of a similar post for a while... Great idea!
Thanks for the advice on Delicious. I am new to this blogging business, but at least I knew what Bookmarks are!

I have found that the bookmark tagging can be a life saver. Saves me a ton of time when looking for somethng also.
