Bring The Blog

by Todd Carpenter on January 17, 2007

Dan Green, a long time mortgage blogger, has a great new service. As my regular readers are well aware, I’ve been struggling to create new content for this blog lately. I just haven’t made enough time for it. When I do have time, it’s been hard to come up with something new. I’m not alone, IMO, it’s the intimidation of not being able to produce fresh content is the primary hurdle holding other mortgage professionals back from blogging.

Dan’s solution is to pick up the slack on the days you are to busy to post yourself. Bring The Blog provides a customizable blog template for you to post content, but adds in daily content for you as well. Now your blog is always fresh with new content. You can still personalize it with you own comments on the local scene, Dan takes care of the more generic industry related stuff. It’s a great match, now any broker can have a fresh, relevant blog without the pressure to constantly supply it themselves.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. You’re not the first of course to have this problem. In my view, it’s not a problem though. Because I’m not sure anyone should blog for the sake of it. If you feel that you have nothing interesting to say, then take a short break. There’s no shame in it. And your blog will be better and richer for it. Unless you’re doing it purely for SEO purposes (which isn’t such a great idea) then there’s really no excuse in writing for the sake of it - anymore than there’s any point in talking for the sake of it. Which means it’s time for me to shut up. (But if you’d like more you can find me at: http://www.CondoMetropolis.com/blog)

It’s incredible how time consuming content creation is, even for 1-2 paragraph posts. The first writing is the easy part. It’s the site maintenance and research and revisions and fact confirmations that take most of your time. It can quickly turn into a full-time job if you let it!
