1000 Blogs, 600 posts, and 1 wiki

This post could also be named, "Why am I posting at 4:00 in the morning?"

This is my 600th post on lenderama. I've actually logged nearly double that when you count all of the other blog ventures I've been involved in, but lenderama is my baby, and it's always fun to watch the ole' blogometer roll past another milestone.

I wanted to post something of significance for the occasion, so I spent the last hour topping REMBEX's climb to 1000 Real Estate and Mortgage Blogs indexed!

Affordable Housing Institute is marks this milestone. This is even more impressive when one considers that REMBEX doesn't count RealTown, or Active Rain sub-blogs individually. I also passed on any blog that was dark for more than a few weeks. The vast majority were within a few days of being current. By contrast, my first attempt to count the RE.net in March of 2005 totaled about 50 blogs.

Still, finding 4 blogs to top off the list isn't why I'm still up. For this, I blame Greg Swann. When he gave me a sneak preview of his new weblogging book a few days ago, I developed a compulsive obsession to learn Word Press. I could see it was just the sort of content management web software I needed to consolidate all of my training projects. I've had 5 hour of sleep in the last two days, but here's the initial result. wiki.mariah.com, my training wiki on sales, origination, and blog training for mortgage professionals.

Like my original open source project, the wiki is open to contributers. Only now it's a lot easier to register and contribute. I still have to work on the navigation, and to make it pretty (although I do like the plain sheet of paper look), but the foundation is built, and I hope you all will take some time to contribute to this resource.

Todd, congratulations on TWO milestones. Your canonical guide to real estate blogs is an impressive (and massive!) directory.

On behalf of all of your readers, thank you for managing this project.

Todd, you provide an invaluable resource and a positive vibe for the mortgage industry. Mortgage Brokers and LOs from across the country tune in for the latest trends and tech. So I see it's 600 down...

...and 99,400 to go!
