I knew it was coming, and considering my perception of how Zillow’s business model is constructed, I really wasn’t surprised to see that they’re the first RE.net blog to try to grab some election traffic. If the whole world said their favorite color was green, mine would still be red. So I don’t pay much attention to polls, especially ones as irrelevant as this.
As far as I’m concerned, this can be the only reference to the election that will appear on lenderama. It’s not what we are about. When political issues effect our industry, we will cover them. But we wont start backwards, and try to find a way to relate the election to this blog just to generate controversy or page views. Political talk belongs on The Politico.

I agree. Unless there are specific issues being dealt with that affect the mortgage / real estate industries, I think it is better let to sites like politicalbase.com handle the election… This thinking should also apply to random music videos or totally off topic content unless it is published in very small doses… readers are here for very specific content…

True that. Niche focused blogs which stick on topic are more successful. That said, I miss the old forum format, where you had multiple sub-forums for different topics. I mean, we’re all humans, and we have differeing opinions on different subjects, which we want to discuss. Afraid the blog has killed that aspect of online interaction which i used to enjoy.

The only politics allowed on a mortgage or real estate blog should be that of how it relates to the industry as a whole. Beyond that, leave it out and maintain professionalism.

Actually, I came across your blog, looking for any evidence of how the upcoming election is going to affect home sales. It would be interesting to find some past history on this subject.
